I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in comedy writing or fans of SNL. If you’re interested in the audiobook, it’s read by the author, which I very much enjoyed. I won’t give anything away, but he has a very riveting story about his mom and the September 11 attacks. He also shares a few details about his relationship with Scarlett (very sweet), and I almost teared up at the chapter about his mom. I really enjoyed hearing about how he got his job at SNL (first as a writer, then moving up to head writer, and then hosting “Weekend Update”). He shares a lot about how he got into comedy, and about his love for writing. Jost talks about growing up on Staten Island, particularly his childhood, his family, and going to school. I really had no expectations going into this book and I was pleasantly surprised that not only was it laugh-out-loud funny, but it was also very heartfelt and sweet.
